Firstly, it’s important to note that Pawn to Drive is not technically correct. It is actually a loan against the value of your car, but you still get to keep and drive your car.

When you Pawn something, by definition, you leave it in a secure storage facility with the lender. This is known as Pawn to Stay.

Secondly, is the only company in South Africa that allows a Pawn to Stay as well as a “Pawn to Drive” option. You get to choose the best option for you.

For reasons of simplicity I will use the term “Pawn to Drive” in this article.

For many people giving up their only form of transport is simply not an option.

Your work may require you have your own transport or you may have to do countless school runs in your car etc. For the most part having your own vehicle is essential.

The costs of renting a car are also not always beneficial, especially if you have to put down a large deposit or go through credit checks etc. It’s not an ideal situation for most people and this is the reason offers you the choice of a car pawn loan but you get to keep your car.

The process for a loan against your vehicle where you get to keep it is simple.

You bring your car to one of our nationwide branches and an assessor will discuss a car pawn loan option with you. Once agreed your vehicle will be fitted with a GPS tracking system and you will get to keep driving it.

You will also have the funds you need sent to your account via EFT before you leave the premises.

A Pawn to Drive agreement does cost slightly more than a Pawn to Stay agreement.

This is due to the fact that we need to install more equipment in your vehicle to minimise our risk as you still get to keep your car.

This increased cost is offset by the convenience of having your own car during the loan period, and you don’t need to jump through hoops to find a rental or other mode of transport.

The Pawn to Stay option offers better rates than the Pawn to Drive option as your vehicle is always kept in our secured storage facility, minimising our risk.

If you are in a position to give up your vehicle during the loan period, then this is the best option in terms of loan repayment value.

The Pawn to Drive and Pawn to Stay options accept a wide range of motor vehicles.

This include popular sedans, hatchbacks, luxury cars, SUV’s, compact cars, trucks and more.

Your car must however be fully paid-up with a clear title in your name.
